SOCCER-WEST HAM'S EARTHY DISCHARGED FROM HOSPITAL AFTER HEAD INJURY

(Reuters) - West Ham United midfielder George Earthy has been discharged from hospital after sustaining a head injury during their 2-0 defeat by Fulham in the Premier League, the club said on Monday.

The match on Sunday was temporarily halted in the 85th minute when academy graduate Earthy, who had just made his league debut as a substitute, went down after colliding with team mate Edson Alvarez.

The 19-year-old was taken off the pitch on a stretcher before being taken to hospital. The club said he would be subject to FA and Premier League concussion guidelines ahead of his return.

"George is back home and we will continue to monitor him over the coming days as he completes the graduated return to play programme," Richard Collinge, the club's performance director, said in a statement.

West Ham host newly crowned Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen in the return leg of their Europa League quarter-final on Thursday. They trail the German side 2-0 from the first leg 2-0.
